Our story…

For the 2021-2022 season the Cherokee Trail girls’ volleyball program proudly unifies their support for the Second Wind Fund, a youth suicide prevention organization. Second Wind Fund connects youth at risk for suicide to life-saving mental health treatment by breaking down financial and transportation barriers to mental health services.  Suicide is the leading cause of death for youth in Colorado, and sadly, our CT community has been impacted by the tragic loss of life by suicide. Within one school year, 1 in 5 Colorado high school students report seriously considering suicide. Children’s Hospital of Colorado recently declared a "State of Emergency" in youth mental health, an issue that has only being exacerbated by Covid-19.  Our CT volleyball program hopes to strengthen community support for mental health and bring awareness to the services Second Wind Fund can offer our community youth.  Please consider supporting our volleyball players as they participate in a 5K Walk Run on September 25, 2021 that will raise money for Second Wind Fund and as they dedicate a home game to supporting this organization's cause

Description

Support me in raising funds for Second Wind Fund! Suicide is currently the leading cause of death for youth in Colorado. Second Wind Fund aims to decrease the incidence of suicide in children and teenagers by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment. Second Wind Fund's program is delivered in 30 counties across Colorado, including: Denver, Jefferson, Mesa, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. To date, Second Wind Fund's program has served over 6,400 youth. Your support directly helps us save young lives from suicide.


Your Impact

Your support helps to save lives. Second Wind Fund is capable of saving a young life from suicide for every $1,000 received:

12 therapy sessions at $70 a session = $840
3 Suicidal Ideation Questionnaires (SIQs) = $30
Therapist travel reimbursement = $120
Minimal administrative costs = $10

Total = $1,000
