Mactaquac Trail Race 2021
Are you ready to cross the stream?!
Fall is awesome! Join us for the fourth edition of the Mactaquac Trail Race in beautiful Mactaquac Provincial Park, October 3, 2021.
The trails are well maintained and not very technical, although in the past 2 years we have been increasing the distance of single track trails, which are more challenging. We have a 10K and a 20K, so you just pick the distance you like. Although the course is not very hilly, it is hardly ever flat. You will cross a stream and a number of bridges. It can be slippery and roots might be sticking out here and there, so always keep one eye on the trail!
NEW for 2021
A few new single track trails have been created with an extra stream crossing and a short, steep ascent and descent. We hope you'll have as much fun running them as we did creating them!
Registration
There is NO registration on the day of the race! Online registration will go through Race Roster and will end on Friday, October 1 by noon! There will NOT be a waiting list once the race is sold out, but as soon as the race is sold out a transfer period will open.
There will be NO refunds or deferrals, but a period for transfers will open up as soon as the race is sold out!
We try to keep this event low-key, so a low entry fee and no shirts or medals. Does that mean you will get nothing? Oh no! Far from it. You will get your swag and there will be lots of draw prizes!
Cup-less
In an ongoing effort to be more environment friendly, we will again be (nearly) cup-less! That means that there will be NO cups at the water stations, so you will have to provide your own cup, bottle, bladder etc.
Map of the course
There used to be a map of the race in the first 2 years, but since we have been changing it every year you will just have to let yourself be surprised. There will be some reconnaissance runs of the course in the weeks/months prior to the race, so if you cannot wait to find out what you will experience in October, we suggest you join them. They will be announced on the race's Facebook page.
After the race
After the race there will be food and drink, awards and draw prizes. In the past three years everyone got a draw prize. We will do our best to get as many draw prizes as possible, but we cannot guarantee that everyone will get one, especially since we have to consider that companies and organizations may have had a tough time with Covid.
Kids run
On Saturday October 2 a free Kids run will be held at the small parking lot next to the Beaver Pond (see instructions for how to get there). Registration will be on-site, not on-line!
Time and other details to be announced at a later date, both here and on our Facebook page.

How to get to the race
The race takes place in Mactaquac Provincial Park on the west side of Route 105.
Coming from the Mactaquac Dam you continue on Route 105, crossing the causeway across the Mactaquac Head Pond; drive past the Ultramar on your right hand side, follow the road when it turns left and after a couple of hundred meters there is a big parking lot on your right hand side (watch for signs on your right). This is where you park; you have to walk a couple of hundred meters to the start.
The start of the race will be at the small parking lot at the Beaver Pond.
