The PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge is a mini triathlon for military and DND personnel, consisting of a 300m swim, a 6.5K mountain bike and a 2K run. Participants may swim, bike and run, or complete a single leg of the race as part of a team. The event is organized to honour the athletic achievements of avid cyclist and triathlete, PO2 Craig Blake, the first Canadian Navy sailor to fall in Afghanistan. The goal of the PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge is to bring people of all fitness levels together to strive to do their best through friendly competition.

Unit Category - COTW, COTF, WING CUP
PSP will pay registration fees for one (1) team from each COTW, COTF and WING CUP Unit to participate in the PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge. Those teams will be competing in the COTW, COTF and WING CUP race categories for points in those inter-Unit competitions only. Teams must have 3 participants from their Unit to be eligible. Registration in the Unit category must be done through Unit Sports Reps via hard copy registration forms by 1500 on Wed, Aug 25. For more details and to register, please contact your Unit Sports Rep.

Equipment
Individuals and teams are required to provide and transport their own bicycles for the race. Participants complete the course at their own risk. PSP is not responsible for any damage to participant bicycles from transport, storage in bicycle racks or race competition.
The PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge bicycle leg is a combination of off-road and gravel road trails. Conditions for the off-road portion are highly dependent on recent weather. Participants should prepare accordingly. A mountain bike is the recommended bicycle for competition.
All riders must wear helmets for the bicycle leg of the race. Helmets are not provided. Riders must bring their own.
Wetsuits and goggles are permitted for the swim portion of the race. For safety reasons, Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided.
No fins or other swimming aids are permitted.
Race Day Registration
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will not be offering race day registration.
All participants must register in advance and sign the PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge waiver.
Online registration closes at 10:00 pm AST on Thurs, Aug 26.
Race Kit Pick-up
Race kits will be available for pick-up at MacDonald's Beach on Fri, Aug 27 during check-in.
Check-in will be from 0830 to 0930 only.
At 0930 the road to MacDonald's Beach will be closed to all vehicles so the run and bike portions of the course can be set up.
Race Roster registration confirmation number recommended for race kit pick-up.
Refund Policy
The PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge does not offer refunds. In the event a participant on a Team is unable to compete due to illness, injury, posting, etc. please attempt to find a replacement and notify the Race Director prior to the event. If a replacement cannot be found and participants are unable to complete multiple legs, a deferal can be requested. If competing in the Individual category, please contact the Race Director to request deferral of your registration to next year.
