My Story…
On Thanksgiving weekend 2013 my wife Lynn was diagnosed with cancer behind her right eye. All she had was a bit of a runny nose at the time. Two days later they operated to obtain a sample. No one in London knew what type it was and a month later someone in Toronto recognized it. Her second surgery in November resulted in the tumour being removed without the loss of her eye. 35 radiation treatments followed and she has been clear since then. Her particular type was one of only 24 cases world wide at the time. We are lucky to live in London where we have outstanding doctors, nurses and support staff like radiation techs etc.
We are also very lucky to have Wellspring. This place is great for cancer patients and their families. Their free services provide solid support with programs for both mental and physical well being. We use it and are thankful for their assistance. We have been involved in their fundraising for several years now, and want to ensure that people will continue to have access to it. They receive no government or United Way funding and rely on donations to operate. Please consider donating to support the annual Walk for Wellspring this year. I'll be walking the first week of September.
