My Story…
My wife Dixie and I belong to an exclusive club which no one ever wants to join. The club is made up of those parents who have lost a child from suicide. Losing our daughter Lexi to suicide has been difficult. Very difficult. You get to know a type of pain that reverberates through your soul. Over time that echo softens, but it still remains. Sometimes softly, sometimes crashing. A symphony of emotions.
For me losing Lexi has allowed me to become more empathetic to those suffering from mental illness and those who suffer grief. Perhaps I can be of help having gone through the experience myself. I want to. I try. Hopefully a glimmer of hope emerges.
We as a community and a nation must come to grips with this issue. It will take a multi-dimensional approach. Help me support efforts here in Cherokee County to prevent suicide by making a donation, becoming a Virtual Runner or sign up and walk or run with me this Labor Day.
Donate to help James raise money for Labor4Hope, Because You Matter Cherokee – 5K Run/Walk and Community’s fundraising campaign.
