MAD SCIENTIST RUN

Join us for this fun filled run/walk at the 4th annual MAD SCIENTIST 5K (3.1 miles), a flat and fast course through the US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Waterways Experiment Station (WES), Vicksburg campus. Race will start and finish at the new ERDC HQs building and the race course will go thru the ERDC campus past many of the buildings where our "mad" scientists and engineers work. The short-sleeve MAD SCIENTIST 5K t-shirts will be guaranteed to the first 200 registrants. There will be special awards for M / F runners and walkers for overall Top 3 as well as Top 3 awards for 7 age group categories (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older). A one mile fun run will be held at 9:15 a.m. In the fun run, finishers medals will be given to all runners as well as awards for overall male and female runners.

Packet pickup for pre-registered participants will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the ERDC Visitors Center (just inside Main Gate), on Friday, Oct 22, 2021, or at the race site starting at 7 am. Pre-register by mail to Mad Scientist 5K, ATTN: Steve Pranger, 3909 Halls Ferry Rd, Vicksburg, MS 39180, post marked no later than Friday, October 15, 2021. Online registration will be available from September 1, 2021 to October 21, 2021. Race day Registration starts at 7:00 am at the ERDC HQs.

Race participants should use ERDC Gate 3 just 1/4 mile past Main Gate entrance located at 3909 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180. Directions: Take I-20 to Vicksburg. Take Exit 1C Halls Ferry Road and head south for approx 1.3 miles. Drive past the Main Gate, turn left into ERDC Gate 3 and follow signs to ERDC HQs in the middle of campus. Parking will be available on North and South sides of the building. Participants may also enter thru the GATE 6 (Near intersection of Bazinsky Road and Wisconsin Ave,) and proceed to ERDC HQs. Note that the roads leading to ERDC HQs will be closed to traffic at 7:45 am.
