Gamers Read Virtual .5k (500 m) Walk/Run/Sprint aims to bring the gaming, cosplay, anime, and running communities and their families together to advocate for literacy, especially among youth in grades K-5. Literacy is a critical skill for success in society, and eSports careers such as game design & development, comic book creation, shoutcasting/streaming, and eSports journalism all require well-developed literacy skills. Gamers Read Virtual .5k (500m) Walk/Run/Sprint is sponsored by PCX GO!, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to prepare K-16 youth for eSports careers through informing, instructing, and educating youth around eSports career pathways.
Participants can complete the virtual .5k over the next few weeks (September 12, 2021 - October 31, 2021). Join us on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Mercedes Benz Stadium (voucher for ticket included in registration). Dress up as your favorite Comic Book or Video Game Character (In observance of COVID Protocols NO CHARACTER MASKS, FACE MASKS ONLY)!!!!! Partial proceeds benefit the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) hospitals (Egleston, Scottish Rite, and Hughes Spalding) to provide gaming equipment and training for eSports careers for the youth whom CHOA serves and to support our other community partners.
