Frosty 5K Walk/Run

Pre Race day packet and swag bag pick up

• Thursday, December 2nd 5:30pm-7:30pm at the ARC Center (201 W National St) room 105
• Friday, December 3rd 8am-4:30pm at City Hall (475 Main Street)
• Morning of the race: 7:30am. Registration and packet pick-up will take place in the parking lot behind the West Chicago Public Library at 118 West Washington St.

Day of Registration

Race day registration fee is $30.00 for all runners. This must be paid by check made out to the City of West Chicago. Day of registration will close at 8:00am.

PARKING INFO

Registration takes place at the Library Parking Lot (118 W. Washington St.) HOWEVER, the Library Parking lot will be closed for the race.

The following parking lots will be available for parking within a short walk of the Library:

157 W. Washington (District 94 Admin. lot)

101 Main St. (Republic Bank lot)

122 Fremont St. (City lot adjacent to Jalapeno Burger)

Also, feel free to use the parallel spots on Washington & Main Streets.

5K Awards:

1st 2nd, 3rd place trophies awarded to "Overall" male and female winners.

1st, 2nd, 3rd place medals awarded within each age group, male and female:

• 10 & under
• 11-14
• 15-19
• 20-29
• 30-39
• 40-49
• 50-59
• 60-69
• 70 & over

Please note that if you win in the "Overall" category, you are then excluded from also winning a medal within your age category.

Race Day Safety Guidelines:

Please understand our goal is to provide a family friendly, fun event where everyone can “Come and Run/Walk Safely”.

With that in mind, please observe the following guidelines;

• If you have a fever, are feeling ill or have been in recent contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19, please do NOT come to the event.
• No spitting! Participants should carry their own tissues or hand towel for spitting, blowing nose, wiping sweat, etc., before, during and after their race.
• Follow current mask mandates and social distancing whenever possible. If family members or friends are attending the event with you, they must wear a face mask at all times and we ask that the do not congregate around the finish area.
• Unless you are with someone living in the same household, participants should not engage in traditional forms of physical contact such as handshakes, high-fives, hugs, partner stretching, etc.
• The water station on the course will be self serve. Volunteers will not be handing out water to eliminate contact.

Participants whose actions do not meet the above expectations, and/or are creating a risk for themselves or others, will be asked to leave the event.

Below are details on running our virtual race!

• Run anytime between December 4 and 5, 2021.
• Choose your own course
• Have fun and enjoy the time outside!

The West Chicago Park District is providing a day pass that can be used race day at the ARC if you choose to do the race virtually. Treadmill space may be limited as is based on availability first come first served. The indoor track will also be available. A 5k on the indoor track is a little over 34 laps (1 mile = 11 laps). Passes will be included in the swag bag and will need to be presented upon arrival at the ARC.

Follow these easy steps to prepare for your tracking:

TRACKING STEPS 1. Download the ASICS Runkeeper™ app to your phone and create an account or scroll down to log into an existing account 2. Follow this link and click "Start Virtual Run" button to add the Frosty 5K Walk/Run to your in-app virtual events 3. To record your run between December 4 and 5, simply click the flag icon in your app, select the Frosty 5K Walk/Run and follow prompts to start recording Once you have completed your 5k distance in the app, save your workout and it will automatically post to Race Roster results. (This step must be followed from your mobile device)

VIEWING AND POSTING MANUAL RESULTS If you plan to record using another software or tracking device or post manually from what is recorded on your watch, simply head here and "Submit Virtual Result" between December 4 and 5, 2021.

- You do not have to track with these technologies, it is optional!
