Raise money for The VCS Cancer Foundation
Why are we here?
“You have cancer.” These are among the most feared and emotionally devastating words to hear. For cancer patients, their diagnosis triggers worry about what their lives will be like, how their families will be affected and what kind of future they can anticipate.
In addition to the physical and emotional stress cancer patients endure on their treatment journey, many also struggle to cope with the financial strain associated with the cost of their care. Even for insured patients, copays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket expenses can overwhelm household finances. Some patients also experience income loss if they are unable to remain fully employed while in treatment. At the same time, everyday living expenses continue to mount. This financial stress leads to higher levels of depression and anxiety, and lower overall quality of life.
How do we help?
The VCS Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded to support cancer patients in Northern Virginia. We provide financial assistance for non-medical expenses while patients are receiving active cancer treatment. Through our Rainy Day Gifts Program, we help pay cancer patients' rent and utility bills and provide them with gift cards for groceries and gas. By reducing some of their financial stress, we hope that they can focus on their treatment and recovery with less anxiety.
