Help Chelsea raise money

For participating in Around the Bay Road Race

My Story…

In 2016, I had my fist child. I was overjoyed to become a mother, the one thing I had always known I wanted to be, but almost immediately after my son was born I knew something wasn't right. My mind felt full of shadows and the dread I experienced even over the smallest tasks was inescapable. Looking back, I know I was trying to hide how I was feeling but fortunately my family doctor noticed the signs of what was serious Post Partum Depression. She immediately referred me to the Women's Health Concerns clinic at St. Joe's where I received treatment for my PPD at no cost to myself. I had a personal clinician to meet with as well as access to a full session of group CBT.

I had my second child in 2019 and the experience could not have been more different, which only made it glaringly clear to me how real and terrifying Post Partum Depression is. Suicide is the number one cause of death in women in their first year Post Partum, a statistic I learned during my group therapy. I am extremely passionate about these resources being available, and the Women's Health Concerns clinic is one of the many specialized outpatient mental health clinics at St. Joe's that will benefit from these donations as well as resources for emergency mental health services.

I would love nothing more than to help raise funds for these important programs with the 30 kilometers I plan to run in March, and your support  would mean the world to me.

Description

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I’m very excited to be participating in the 2022 Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) in support of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. This cause is very important to me because St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide, and inspired by the bravery the Hospital’s care teams showed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds raised through this year’s Bay Race will support the expansion and renewal of our Emergency Mental Health Services – a service that has never been more important than it is right now as we all cope with the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As well, funds raised will bring us one step closer to creating a new CT Suite in our busy Emergency Department. A CT Suite in the ER will help our patients get the answers they need quickly while also helping our Hospital to catch up on the backlog of diagnostic imaging procedures put on hold during the peaks of the pandemic.

I hope that you’ll consider supporting me as I take on the Around the Bay Road Race and raise funds for St. Joe’s. I’m encouraged by the support I’ve already received, but I still need your help to reach my fundraising goal. Every dollar we raise together will support hope, healing and discovery at St. Joe’s. Please consider donating today.

Thanks for your support!
