Raise money for Women's Centre of York Region (WCYR)
Since 1977, WCYR has served women experiencing gender-based violence and socioeconomic barriers to success. Our mission is using a strengths-based, trauma-informed feminist approach, we provide opportunities, support and resources to all persons who identify as women on their journey of self-discovery and empowerment. WCYR provides free counselling and life-skill group programming to help women build a sustainable livelihood and live free from abuse.
The pandemic has impacted women's mental health, ability to work from home or seek new employment, and even their safety, all with long-lasting impacts. As the world begins to reopen and a sense of normalcy returns, an influx of women who were stuck for so long, are seeking to regain their economic and social security. In the last three months alone, WCYR received a 46% increase in service calls and 127% increase in referrals to shelters and community services.
In 2022, WCYR's focus is on helping women rebuild safely. Our programs are the wrap-around support they need to push towards a sustainable livelihood. With your support, we can help #HelpKeepHerSafe.
