My Story…
This October I will be running in the 2022 Toronto Waterfront Virtual Half-Marathon in support and celebration of my Auntie Jen, and in memory of my Auntie Sue, both of whom were diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. As well, in dedication to my Auntie Kelly who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and has always lived life to the fullest.
My Aunt, Jen Pogue, was diagnosed with metastatic triple negative breast cancer in February 2021. She is one of the most vibrant souls in my life. Jen has faced her diagnosis with strength and grace, and I have recently learned the impact that the Gilda’s Club has had on her life (I encourage you to read her story on her fundraising page, which I have linked below).
The Gilda’s Club provides free supportive and educational programs to those impacted by cancer. The programs offered at Gilda’s Club “are an essential component of a complete cancer care plan” and aim to reduce isolation and cancer-related anxiety.
By running in support of Gilda’s Club, I will also be celebrating the perseverance of my Auntie Jen, and others impacted by a cancer diagnoses.
If you would like to learn more about Gilda’s Club, I have linked the website below!
