My Story…
At least 20 countries in the developing world today are suffering from acute food shortages and more than 19 million people are victims of famine. This statistic is all the worse when you consider that children account for over half of these figures. World Vision equates these numbers to a 50 per cent rise in people at risk of starvation when compared to 2019 as nations from Africa, Asia and the Middle East bear the brunt of what is officially the worst hunger in decades.
Moreover, many of these countries are dealing with this humanitarian disaster while grappling with decades of civil war. Countries like Afghanistan, South Sudan and Syria are therefore quite literally fighting on multiple fronts.
While many people have justifiably been concerned with the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic, this sadly does not mean that the scourge of famine has faded away. In face, many humanitarian agencies estimate that the pandemic will eventually double the number of families who will go hungry.
In response to this crisis, Year 7 Phillips is banding together to do something to help. A donation of just $20 can provide life saving food assistance for as many as four people. With your generous assistance, we would like to multiply this number and help as many people as possible!
Caitlin, Mia, Alice, Indigo, Zara, Charley, Amy, Cindy and Ava will be giving up technology, including their phones! Evie is going without furniture for for forty hours and Immo won't be eating!
And then there is Kaiya who will not only be sacrificing her phone but who will be going without furniture for forty hours!
Donate to help Year 7 raise money for World Vision Australia - 40hr Famine’s fundraising campaign.
