For participating in 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

Running is something that gives me a sense of peace. When you run all over Pittsburgh though, it is hard to notice those struggling with poverty and homelessness. Light of Life Rescue Mission is a place that can provide some peace to those struggling. I have seen the Light of Life Rescue Mission set up safe places to sleep in the freezing winter month that extended beyond their inside shelter. I have seen the lines of people waiting to take solace in a warm meal. I have seen the pantry outside their building stocked with personal care items. The Light of Life’s Street Outreach Team visits camps and downtown areas daily to provide our homeless neighbors with critical resources and to build connections. They also have a Day Center where homeless men, women, and children can come to receive a warm place to sit, snacks and water, prayer, and any other resources they need.

Last year, Light of Life served 250,000 warm meals, 8,000 individual sheltered nights for men, 155 regularly sheltered families, and 1,300 Thanksgiving meal baskets prepared. They have expanded to a 3rd active service building and are close to achieving their goal to transform a donation building into a 4th service building. One of the ways they are able to provide so much support to the Pittsburgh community is by charitable donations. Please join me in supporting the Light of Life Rescue Mission as I participate in the Pittsburgh Marathon as a charity runner.
