My Story…
Going for my 4th (and possibly my last ;) ) Half Marathon this year! I have run 3, dedicating one to each of my 3 boys! This year, I am dedicating my run to all my “kids” ~ my nieces, my nephews, my “friends that are family” kids, all of my kids’ friends and teammates, my neighbors and, last but not least, my preschool students past and present! 💜
Most, if not all, of us parents have all had an experience with Children’s hospital, once or maybe a few times on a small scale to a grand scale. I know we have! We are so blessed to have such amazing resources right here in our hometown, and I want to give back! Any donation or just a shout out of support is greatly appreciated! As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2022 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
