Please help me raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Research at The Ottawa Hospital

On May 28 & 29 I will be running in the Ottawa Race Weekend in memory of my husband Carl & all those who have lost their fight to pancreatic cancer. I will be running to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research.

In the last 40 years, survival rates for most cancers have improved but NOT for pancreatic cancer. Every year, about 4,700 Canadians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Sadly, most of these people will succumb to this devastating illness. At the moment there is not a treatment or cure available for this type of cancer as it is the least funded cancer for research, receiving only 0.1% of all the cancer money raised for research.

These past 2 years have been very different for all of us, and we have had to make a lot of adjustments. At the Ottawa Hospital the researchers have been working hard with all the different labs around the world working on a vaccine for covid, but they are back into full swing working on cancer research. And they are able to use all the new methods and ideas that they had learnt from other labs to help them find a treatment or potentially a cure for pancreatic cancer.

This year i am raising money to purchase a Tangential Flow Filtration Column System for Dr Carolina Ilkow lab. It will be used all the time in her lab to purify viruses or exosomes helping them to continue their research in finding a treatment and hopefully a cure for pancreatic cancer.

Your donation will help us purchase this much needed equipment.

This equipment cost $12,000.
