Why I care
I run for many reasons - mental health, physical health, as a way to connect with others. I'm honored to add another reason to that list: this fall I will be running the Twin Cities 10 Mile on behalf of Wildflyer Coffee and fundraising for the organization throughout the summer.
Wildflyer is a non-profit coffee shop whose mission is to provide job training for youths (ages 16-24) experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Their impact is life-changing - developing job skills in a safe space makes a huge difference in the future of Twin Cities youths.
Please consider donating at any amount to help me hit my fundraising goal and to help Wildflyer provide job training and a paycheck to 15-20 more people this year!
Description
Wildflyer Coffee is a coffee company that hires and trains youth experiencing homelessness throughout the Twin Cities, giving them the tools and skills they need to leave homelessness, achieve self-sufficiency and build the future they deserve.
Every day, there are approximately 7,500 youth ages 16-24 in Minnesota that experience homelessness. These are people's sons or daughters, siblings, and friends, who are not only fighting to fit in with their peers but trying to find basic needs like food and shelter. The likelihood is high that these vulnerable youth will experience untreated mental health disorders, struggle with substance use, engage in survival sex or trafficking, become victims of violent crime or complete suicide.
This fall, I'm running the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon/10 Mile race to raise money for Wildflyer Coffee. Your donation will help provide youth experiencing homelessness with paid employment, housing assistance, mental health referrals, skills coaching, education help, and future career planning. Thank you for joining me to end youth homelessness!
