My Story
I am fortunate to have spent over 30 years sharing the love and laughter, sunshine and stars with the incredible kids and counselors that create the magic of Campfire Circle (formerly Camps Ooch + Trillium).
The last couple of those years have been pretty unusual... I never would have imagined the joy I would get from connecting with both my campers and my fellow volunteers over something like Zoom! But the connection within our community is a strong one... and whether it was doing an "all camp game", leading activity weeks, or rolling up my sleeves to do some on-camera baking - Covid couldn't stop camp! And since the spring of 2020 we've been bringing fun and friendship to our kids through the magic of Camp in a Box, in-hospital programming and lots of virtual camp!
We were finally able to get back to in-person Family Camps this fall and it was so great to get to both Muskoka and our Rainbow Lake properties to welcome our families back to camp. It was amazing!!
And this summer it only gets better!! We are bringing in-person kids ONLY camp back to our campers in a big way - and as a Session 3 volunteer I am so excited to be part of a brand new summer program. This August we'll be bringing not only our campers up to Muskoka but also their siblings! We know that cancer effects, not only our campers, but their whole families and I love that I'm going to be able to share the magic of camp with not just campers but their brother and sisters too. It's going to be amazing!!
Camp has done an incredible job of keeping our kids connecting and providing programing year round despite the pandemic - but it hasn't been easy! Your support of my fundraising last year provided a ton of Camp in the Box programming but that just doesn't compare to the real thing... so this summer I hope you'll help me bring one of my campers back to camp, and his brother or sister too! Camp is the best medicine and we know all our kids could sure use a little bit of that these days!!
