Raise money for Renown Health Foundation
Proceeds from the event will support the construction and programming of Sophie’s Place, a dedicated music therapy space built in the Renown Children’s Hospital that will treat young people suffering from pain, chronic illness, and serious injury. Opening in 2022, this space will provide patients and their families a place to get away from the often stressful environment of their hospital room, and instead offer a musical escape where kids and their families can experience music in unlimited ways. Therapeutic activities can include performances, songwriting, instrument play, singing, and dancing. While these activities may seem purely musical and routine, music therapists focus on the goals that are accomplished in the process, such as reduced pain or anxiety, sensorimotor rehabilitation, speech, social connection, self-confidence, communication, and relaxation. But most importantly your support helps provide a physical space to build a community, create new friendships, and receive support when patients need it the most.
As the area’s only dedicated children’s hospital in the region, Renown Children’s Hospital impacts more than 50,000 kids’ lives every year. It offers the most advanced healthcare facility, which provides a full range of pediatric services including the Wilbur D. May PICU, the only Pediatric ICU in the region, as well as the David & Judy Hess Children’s Imaging Center, Children’s Specialty Care, and Children’s Infusion Center, and the only dedicated Children’s ER. Renown Children’s Hospital is also home to northern Nevada’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
