My Story…
On March 17th, 2022 London was diagnosed with a rare childhood disease known as Perthes Disease (LCPD). London came home from school complaining of pain in his leg and hip area. Over the next two days, he stopped walking which prompted a visit to the ER. We were told there were abnormalities in his bone not consistent with an injury and that it was urgent we see a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. After a sleepless night, we were lucky to get an appointment first thing in the morning where he was diagnosed with LCPD. There are no known causes of this disease and no two cases are alike. We were lucky to find the best doctor in Baltimore, MD at The Rubin Institute who has dedicated his career to this rare disease. London will be walking virtually in the Robert I. Damie Race for Our Kids on October 2, 2022, at The Maryland Zoo. All proceeds benefit the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai, Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics Save-A-Limb Fund, and Center for Hope.
