My Story…
Year 8 fun run to raise funds for the GWCPC This summer we will collaborate with two amazing local partners to bring something truly special and inspirational to our neighbourhood.
The last year has brought a lot of sadness to the Drive and sorrow to our hearts with the passing of 5 well known and beloved community members. On the surface level you may not think these individuals would have much in common but as a collective they are each a thread woven together to create this rich, vibrant tapestry of diversity that is Commercial Drive. Our goal is to provide youth an opportunity to spend a weekend together and have an open dialogue on community. What is a community? Who makes a community? What makes our community great? Where are we letting our community down,? How is our community evolving. From these youth lead conversations, a vision will emerge and it will be the inspiration behind the mural the youth will create for our Neighbours, and all the visitors to this area will enjoy for years to come.To make this vision become a reality we will rely on our partners for the mural location, the creative drive behind the project, our GWCPC volunteers have already raised $4011of our $5000 goal by participating in the Vancouver half marathon and 5k run|walk.
