My Story…
Here is our tiny but determined team after walking in last year's Vancouver Half Marathon, and enjoying some well deserved ice cream! Despite challenges that included a heat-induced nosebleed, more than a few blisters, and not-quite-heatdome-hot-but-still-really-hot weather, we managed to raise money to help support some of the vulnerable in our community. For the second year in a row, I am going to walk a half-marathon for the WISH Drop-In Centre Society in the Vancouver Half Marathon Charity Challenge.
For almost 40 years, WISH has been a refuge and an essential point of contact for street-based sex workers who have been made vulnerable due to poverty, homelessness, trauma, violence, stigma, and a lack of access to supports and opportunities. WISH is the largest organization in Canada supporting these vulnerable women, and the only drop-in centre and shelter in BC supporting sex workers 365 nights a year. If you are interested in donating, please do so through the link here – every bit counts – and I truly appreciate the support! #charitychallenge #walkforWISH
