Help ALAN raise money

For participating in 2022 Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria presented by Scotiabank

My Story…

Hello friends and family!

I am excited to be riding in the Tour de Victoria bike ride one more time on August 20.

I am part of the Opportunity International team. Opportunity International empowers families along their journeys out of extreme poverty toward new lives filled with strength, hope, resilience and the power to achieve their dreams. It helps unlock opportunities through providing access to financial services, training and mentoring, life-saving healthcare, quality education, and innovative technology.

Please cheer me on from wherever you are as I aim to complete my 100km race in under 4 hours! On my first ride in 2019, I completed my 100km in 4h 38m. In 2021, I completed the same ride in 3h 55m. I'm hoping to break 3h 50m this time!

If you are able, please also consider joining me in supporting Opportunity International and the millions worldwide it helps each year make their way out of poverty. I hope to raise at least $400 for them this year.

Thanks so much,

Alan

Description

Opportunity International Canada designs, delivers, and scales innovative solutions to transform the lives of those living in poverty through sustainable livelihoods and education. Made up of a global network of change-making organizations, Opportunity International strives towards a world where everyone is afforded equal opportunity to live a life with dignity and purpose. It was founded with the belief that the marketplace can be used as a channel and means of economic vitality for poor communities. This belief continues to drive strategic and sustainable programs that adapt to the needs of our clients especially now as they face the challenges of rebuilding their businesses while still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For too many families living in poverty, this pandemic has not only brought with it sickness, but also hunger and homelessness. Lockdowns and increased health regulations mean many have been unable to work or run the small businesses they rely on for their daily income. In addition, many children have been unable to go to school, interrupting their access to education. These ongoing impacts of the pandemic threaten to drastically set back strides towards ending poverty.

Opportunity International Canada and its Implementing Partners are remaining on the frontlines by delivering strategic and sustainable programs to help families survive the challenges today so that they can thrive tomorrow.
