Windy25 was the call sign of the aircraft from F Company, 159th Aviation Regiment “Big Windy”. They made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan on 6 April 2005.
18 brave Americans gave their lives in the name of freedom on April 6th, 2005 near Ghazni, Afghanistan. We forever honor them and continue to tell their life stories:

The Windy25 Memorial Fund was created to honor their legacy by actively supporting the families and survivors of all of our nation’s heroes, and we could not continue our mission without your support. Join us, as we preserve Windy25’s legacy with dedication, honor and an unquenchable desire to make this world a better place.
We remember Windy25 as they lived, bringing life and love and joy to those who knew them and a pride to those that knew of their personal sacrifices in serving our Nation.

Shadow Runner Closed
We are once again inviting our extended family and friends who cannot join us in Las Vegas the opportunity to support our incredible event no matter where you might find yourself by becoming a Windy25 Shadow Runner. You can run as an individual or start a team and pledge to run a 5k on or before April 2, 2022. We will provide a t-shirt and finishers medal for all those participating and encourage you to upload your photos and finishing times to our Facebook and Instagram pages. All the proceeds raised from our Windy25 Shadow Runners go directly to our chosen charities, providing much-needed support to families of America's fallen heroes. We look forward to seeing your incredible race photos from around the globe!!
