The Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia (“EFMNS”) is a non-profit organization that engages with vulnerable women and gender diverse individuals to foster personal empowerment and address the root causes of criminalization. EFMNS is devoted to improvement of the lives of vulnerable people in our province through comprehensive housing supports, justice system reform and innovative programming initiatives to build personal capacity and develop positive relationships with their communities. EFMNS was formally incorporated in the 1980s and its offices have been situated in Dartmouth since 2007. EFMNS has program space in Dartmouth and Truro, Nova Scotia, and also operates Holly House, a transitional supportive home for women and girls.
