My Story…

There have been many instances of heart disease and stroke in my family which have changed the lives of the individuals, their families, loved ones, and myself.

For me, my “why” comes in the form of my Grandfather and my Grandmother, both of whom passed from complications due to stroke. As someone who was extremely close with their grandparents, both losses left a feeling of emptiness for me and the simple but complex questions : why? How? Could it have been avoided? How could the people that I’ve learned so much from and spent so much time with be forever changed and gone in an instant?

My other “why” comes in the form of my younger Sister, Samantha. Samantha passed away at just 28 days old from a congenital heart defect known as Endocardial Fibroelastosis (EFE). At the time, not much was known about the defect, or how to screen for it in infants. My parents were truly blindsided by the news they were receiving, and by the time a defect was detected, it was too late.

I run for Tedys Team to raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease and stroke. I run for my family, my grandparents and my sister, Samantha. I run for the hope that future generations have the ability to spend more time with their loved ones, and that individuals effected by heart disease and stroke can live longer, healthier lives and keep pushing forward. Together, we are strong.

Thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts for such an incredibly meaningful cause that touches so many amazing people.

sincerely,

Seth
