My Story…
Hi everyone! I am so excited to be running the Falmouth Road Race again this year for NF Northeast! The NF Northeast charity means the world to me, and I am so happy to be a part of this amazing team again. I was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF) at 18 months. NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along nerves in the body. Besides my birthmarks, for the first 15 years of my life I was very fortunate for the little effect that NF had in my life. During my freshman year of high school, my doctors noticed a slight droop in my right eye, and they called for an MRI scan. This MRI reported a benign brain tumor. When I was a senior in high school, I had this tumor operated on. About 50% of the tumor was removed during surgery at Boston Children's Hospital. After this, I thought this scary part of my life was behind me. I was getting MRI scans every few months and every time the scans were reporting my tumor was stable. Since October 2021, I have had 9 seizures. My doctors believe that these seizures are from the scar tissue in my brain from my 2017 surgery. Running for NF Northeast means more to me this year than ever before. I am so thankful for my amazing family and friends who are always there for me and always being my shoulder to lean on. Please consider donating to this amazing organization to support their research for finding a cure for NF. I am so appreciative and thankful of any donation. Thank you so much to everyone. Love you all! #endnf #birthmarknation 💙💚
