My Story…
As most of you know, my dearest friend Cammie’s mother lost her life to breast cancer 5 years ago. Growing up, Sue was a second mother to me. Her battle with cancer was inspiring, as there was not one day she did not fight back. Although she may not be with us any longer, her legacy of kindness, strength, beauty, and passion still sticks with everyone that knew her, including myself.
Every race that I run, I am always running for #TeamSue, a slogan Cammie came up with when we ran our first half marathon together in honor of her.
This year, I am running the Falmouth Road Race, and raising money for Tommy’s Place. Tommy’s place is a house located in Falmouth that is able to give children battling cancer and their families a week long vacation on the beaches of Cape Cod. Their goal is to provide families with a space that is relaxing, and restful, where memories can be made.
I am excited I have been given the chance to run for such an amazing charity, with an inspirational mission, while also honoring Sue. She is missed so dearly. Please consider donating. Every dollar makes a difference.
Thank you so much. It takes a village.
Description
Tommy's Place is OPEN!
"Tommy's Place" is a magical vacation home for kids fighting cancer. The home, located in Falmouth on Cape Cod, is a place to relax, make memories, and most importantly have fun! To ensure privacy, one family at a time will stay in the home for up to a week, free of charge. The house has enough room for the immediate family, extended family, as well as any friends and caregivers that are all part of the support system. For these children and their families, one of the most important aspects of dealing with cancer is having a supportive community. “It takes a village” is especially true when dealing with childhood cancer. "Tommy's Place" is an HGTV Dream Home/Disney like experience with individually designed and decorated rooms, an inground swimming pool, game room, home theatre and tavern, music and arts and crafts rooms and so much more!!!
Since opening in July of 2021 Tommy's Place has served more than 40 families and is fully booked through 2022!
Thanks for your help and support we really appreciate it!!
