My Story…
After a 20 year hiatus I have decided to lace them up one more time and I will join Alison in this years Falmouth Road Race. Ali will be running her 4th consecutive race. We are doing it jointly in honor of my late wife and Ali's mom Liesl Radzik. We are also running and raising money for Tommy's Place in Falmouth, MA. A special vacation home for kids with cancer and their families that you can read more about below. Having dealt with cancer in our own family we know first hand the affect that this horrible disease can have on the patient and their loved ones. Liesl's attitude, courage and determination as she fought her battle has made a lasting impact on me, Alison, Alexa and her many friends and family. Her legacy of kindness and giving back continues to be our inspiration as we continue to move forward without her in our daily lives. Tommy's Place was just an idea when Liesl was first diagnosed, today one of the 12 bedrooms in the home is named in her honor. Thank you to everyone who has been there with us since Liesl's diagnosis in June 2018 through her passing in April 2019. As well as everyone else we have met along the way. Tommy's Place is OPEN!
"Tommy's Place" is a magical vacation home for kids fighting cancer. The home, located in Falmouth on Cape Cod, is a place to relax, make memories, and most importantly have fun! To ensure privacy, one family at a time will stay in the home for up to a week, free of charge. The house has enough room for the immediate family, extended family, as well as any friends and caregivers that are all part of the support system. For these children and their families, one of the most important aspects of dealing with cancer is having a supportive community. “It takes a village” is especially true when dealing with childhood cancer. "Tommy's Place" is an HGTV Dream Home/Disney like experience with individually designed and decorated rooms, an inground swimming pool, game room, home theatre and tavern, music and arts and crafts rooms and so much more!!!
Since opening in July of 2021 Tommy's Place has served more than 40 families and is fully booked through 2022!
