My Story…
Hi everyone!
This year, I am proud to be running the Falmouth Road Race on behalf of the Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England. Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect that causes permanent disability at birth and requires surgery within in the first few days of birth. Some p are ambulatory while others will require mobility devices such as wheelchairs, walkers.
This incredible organization was founded in 1971 and over the years, has helped those affected by spina bifida by providing resources for individuals, families and caregivers. Some of the ways that they assist is through medical outreach to offices, social events and advocacy for those with spina bifida in the disability community as well as financial support for their Empowerment Benefit Program.
This is a disease that is being constantly being studied, managed and treated so that those affected by spina bifida can live a healthy, supported and empowered life.
I hope that you will consider a donation to this organization. I am looking forward to representing this group on August 21!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Erin Coakley
