I am extremely excited to be running the 2022 Asics Falmouth 50th Anniversary road race for Herren Project. 

 24 years ago this month, when I shot the Academy Award winning film, Almost Famous, I had no clue the profound irony of the title, never mind one of the major themes-"Don't do drugs", would play such a personal meaning to my life. At this point, I had not accepted I was an addict or was suffering from Substance Use Disorder. My disease would eventually destroy my promising career in film, and fractured every relationship in my life, including my relationship with myself and my God.

January 19, 2014, my over two decade battle with Substance Use Disorder came to a deadly stop. Living in my truck, during a blizzard, I survived a near fatal overdose when my body was discovered in a snowbank. Herren Project came to my desperate need driving me to detox and gifted me with a scholarship for long term treatment.  With their support and navigation, I was reintroduced to a 12 step fellowship which allowed me to continue the healing process, providing me freedom from drugs, alcohol and self which eluded me my whole life.  I celebrate my recovery over 8 years clean.  My life in recovery is second to none today. Native Westporter, now small business owner on beautiful Cape Cod, servicing the Islands and Westport, with loving, supportive friends and family, traveling the globe during the winter to amazing destinations and set to publish my first novel in spring 2023!
