Support. Inspire. Empower.
So excited to a part of the Falmouth Road Race again this year and to be representing the Herren Project. Last year my mission was to run in memory of my late brother- who succumbed to a decade long battle to a substance use disorder in early 2020. What didn’t occur to me at the time was how many people I would actually be running for. This year I am running for Mike, Mike’s friends, my family members, my childhood best friends, my friends’ families and their friends, past coworkers, and everyone I have met along the way who have been affected by this disease- whether themselves or through a loved one. Running for those in recovery (kicking ass) and those no longer with us. I know that raising money for substance abuse is not easy. I know that there is a very ugly label many people attach to it. However, in continuing to bring light to this disease I am hoping to help break the stigma that surrounds substance use disorder. To me- SUD is a silent disease that most prefer not to speak about. There is so much more to it than meets the eye. I believe that it has touched a lot more people than you may know. Please help me reach my goal! Whether you donate or not- I want to thank you for getting this far and reading what I have to say. Let’s talk about it. Let’s break the stigma. Can’t wait to run again!
