I am honored to be part of the empowerHER Falmouth Road Race Team! empowerHER, Inc. is an organization that supports, connects and empowers young girls who experience the early loss of their mothers. empowerHER offers a mentorship program, where a mentor is paired with a younger, motherless girl, as well as events for the girls throughout the year, such as a Mother's Day Retreat, cooking classes, back to school shopping, etc. Events remind the girls they are not alone in their loss and mentorship gives them a strong female role model as they traverse the difficult terrain of grief. All programs and activities are provided at no charge to the family.

This is my first year running for this organization as a means to honor the life and motherhood of Lindsay Bugbee Crosby who was a dear friend and colleague of my sister Jess. Lindsay passed away on July 4, 2018, shortly after giving birth to her third child. Lindsay was strong, compassionate, and thoughtful with a love of athletics and running. Jess has run Falmouth the last 3 years and asked me to join her in this year's race as part of the empowerHER team. In supporting empowerHER, I understand the opportunity to honor Lindsay's spirit and recognize that it can take a community to heal after such loss.
