I am running in the 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race to raise awareness for Shooting Touch, an international sport-for-development organization whose mission is to use the mobilizing power of basketball to bridge health and opportunity gaps for youth and women facing racial, gender, and economic inequalities.

Since 2015, Shooting Touch Boston (STB) has used the platform of sport to create safe and supportive environments for girls of color to thrive in. Serving over 250 girls (ages 9-17) from within the Greater Boston Area, STB turns basketball courts into classrooms, community centers, and health clinics in an effort to challenge the existing socio-economic disparities negatively impacting the BIPOC community.

Since 2012, Shooting Touch has provided the infrastructure, equipment, and capacity to grow the game of basketball across Rwanda's villageside, inspiring a new generation with a love for, and understanding of, the positive power of sport for an entire country. In rural Rwanda, where poverty is ubiquitous and overpopulation, limited resources, and various forms of health inequity negatively impact communities at large, Shooting Touch is using the mobilizing power of basketball as "more than a game." Turning basketball courts into classrooms, community centers, and health clinics, Shooting Touch is providing 2,000 youth and women with essential health education, resources, and support integral to their personal development and well-being.
