Help Nicole raise money

For participating in The 2022 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

I am thrilled to be running in the 50th Anniversary Falmouth Road Race for Old Colony Elder Services (OCES). This is by far one of my favorite races and my family always turns out in my support (I am pictured with my Grandfather from a previous FRR)! I have worked for OCES for 17 years now and am honored to be the CEO since 2017. The Staff at OCES continue to amaze me with their passion and dedication to serving older adults and individuals with disabilities. It is because of our skilled and adaptive staff that OCES can offer dynamic programming to greater Plymouth County. This year, OCES received the COVID-19 Agency Hero Award because of the extraordinary contributions made to the Greater Brockton communities prior, during and after the pandemic. OCES stepped up to respond to the needs of the community during an extremely difficult time for all. While the COVID-19 pandemic impacted businesses, families, friends, and neighbors in our communities it also impacted the normal way of business. Even though the organization’s daily operations changed significantly, OCES continued to provide all their pre-pandemic services, they also expanded programs and services to meet the new and changing needs of the community.

OCES introduced several new initiatives in the last few years to address the increasing number of older adults facing food insecurities. The first initiative was called the “Grocery Bag” project that offered one week’s worth of groceries to all consumers. The bags were delivered directly to home-bound individuals living in communities across our service area. The second initiative, “Grab & Go” Meals, provided daily meals for individuals who had transportation to pick up the meals; this also offered socialization opportunities.

Last year alone the OCES Nutrition Department assisted the Greater Brockton Communities and surrounding areas with:

513,716 total meals served, 493,576 Home Delivered Meals served, 20,140 Grab & Go Meals provided to residents at local Councils on Aging and other meal-sites throughout Plymouth County, 5,718 Grocery Bags filled with “one week’s worth” of groceries.

This year, I am running to raise money for OCES’ Emergency Fund.  OCES assists individuals on a daily basis by providing emergency financial assistance so that people can meet their needs while facing an emergency. Your donation will cover the cost of: fuel, electricity, hearing aides, prescriptions and other needs that some people take for granted. OCES could not do this without the support and donations from individuals in the community and local businesses that make donations.

Please consider making a donation via my Fundraising Page to support an older adult or individual with disability in your community!  Every dollar donated goes directly to an individual residing in Greater Plymouth County (Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, Brockton, Carver, Duxbury, East Bridgewater, Easton, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Lakeville, Marshfield, Middleboro, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Rockland, Stoughton, Wareham, West Bridgewater, Whitman).

Thank you!  Nicole
