COVID 19 PROTOCOLS
As the situation with COVID 19 is very fluid and ever-changing, we will post the most up to date protocols to be followed by race organizers, volunteers and participants closer to race day. As of March 1, Athletics Ontario has waived the proof of vaccination requirement. We will however follow all required guidelines as dictated by Public Health and/or our race venues. If there are any changes or additions, they will be posted here so please refer back here for information.
GIVING BACK
Island Lake Conservation Area has been an amazing partner of the Island Lake Classic for ten years. They have a new 25 year plan that includes several new improvements to the park, one of which includes an Indigenous Cultural Feature, the Crane Gathering Space. If you would like to help support this project, you can make a donation with your registration and you can also ask your family/friends to support your run by sending them the donation link. Here's a message from the Credit Valley Conservation Foundation:
The CVC Foundation needs YOUR HELP to raise funds for CVC’s first major Indigenous infrastructure installation! Become a part of the Credit Valley Trail legacy!
CVC will construct a new community asset ‘The Crane Gathering Space’ (CGS) an Indigenous cultural feature at Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville, Ontario. Located along the Credit Valley Trail (CVT) route, a 100km continuous pathway along the Credit River from Orangeville to Port Credit. The CGS will create a space for Indigenous people to connect with the land, express their culture and language, and it will deepen connections to traditional knowledge and ancestry in the Credit River Valley. There are multifaceted public benefits to creating the CGS, including nurturing connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, producing unique recreational experiences, and serving as a publicly accessible site available for innovative educational opportunities.
The CVC Foundation’s goal is to raise $250k towards this once-in-a-lifetime project – we need your help to make this a reality!
