One Love Pit Bull Foundation is a nonprofit organization that advocates for pit bull type dogs with a focus on shelter programs, pet retention, community outreach and sterilization. We are a 100% volunteer managed and run organization, made up of passionate and dedicated individuals who give their spare time and work tirelessly to improve the lives of homeless dogs.
The majority of our volunteers are also registered at our local municipal shelters. This allows them to make regular trips to the shelter where they spend time with our sponsored dogs. Volunteers will bathe, walk, and play with the dogs several times per week.
Here are some of the programs this fundraiser will benefit:
Shelter Dog Program
One Love believes that shelter enrichment programs are a necessity. Many dogs have trouble adjusting to shelter life and need a little extra help getting adopted. The Shelter Dog Program was established in 2015 to assist local shelters with pit bull type dogs who are at risk and/or longtime residents. The three (3) main pillars of this program include large scale enrichment, volunteer interaction, and dog sponsorship. Sponsored dogs are referred to as VIP's (Very Important Pits) and they receive a number of benefits which include but are not limited to, training, medical care, marketing, promotion and post adoption support.
Targeted Spay/Neuter Clinics
One Love believes that spay and neuter is the most effective way to tackle the overpopulation problem in our community. We hold regular FREE spay/neuter and vaccination clinics by passing out flyers in "target zip codes" where the majority of dogs who enter the shelter system are coming from. Our goal is to provide aid to pets and pet owners in these underserved communities. Each pet receives free sterilization, vaccination and a custom ID tag and collar.
Pools for Pups
The Arizona heat can be deadly for dogs who live outdoors. This program was created to assist local pet owners with dogs who currently live outside. Upon application approval, we provide free play pools within 72 hours. We can also offer solutions for tethered (tied up or chained) dogs. Our goal is to keep dogs cool, provide an alternative to tethering and save lives.
