Animal Run
A community of athletes creating a better, loving and more sustainable world through outdoor exercise, animal kindness and environmental awareness
Welcome to our 5th Annual Animal Run/Walk and Canicross (canine cross-country).
Our Mission: Animal Run's vegan foot races raise funds for various animal welfare organizations, helping them save the lives of, find homes for, heal and comfort animal residents in need. Animal Run encourages athletes to support vegan businesses that promote human health and a thriving world.
What is Canicross?
Canicross can be run with one or two dogs, always attached to the runner. The runner wears a waist belt or hip harness to minimize stress on the back lumbar area. The dog wears a specifically designed harness for safe and unrestricted joint movement. The two are joined by a bungee cord or elastic line that reduces shock to both human and dog when the dog pulls. If you're new to the sport, here is how to get started.

THE VIRTUAL RUN means you can run or walk your registered distance anytime, anywhere you are safest and happiest. You also have the choice of completing your distance all-at-once or in several comfortable segments. Start running today but please complete your distance by April 17.
Please practice social distancing. Wear one earbud to ensure you hear oncoming traffic. Wear reflective gear if you are outside at night.
Time Frame The virtual event starts today and ends on Easter Sunday 4/17/2022.
NOTE FOR VIRTUAL CANICROSS TEAMS
While not mandatory, we highly encourage you to use a proper canicross or run harness to enhance your doggies' safety and enjoyment of the sport. For the Virtual Marathon, 50k and especially the 50 mile run, we also highly recommend that you complete your distance over several days with appropriate recovery time for the safety of your four legged team member's joints, paws and overall health. Please expect to receive an email from us with further details on canicross safety. If you have any questions about canicross, please reach out to Victor Ballesteros, CEO of Victory Sportdesign and canicross expert at v@victorysportdesign.com
