Tuscaloosa Kids Triathlon

& Learn to Tri - Training Clinic

You’re invited to take part in the 8th Annual Tuscaloosa Kids Triathlon. This event is a great way to promote healthy, active lifestyles for kids – while supporting a great cause, Secret Meals For Hungry Children.

We encourage children of all athletic abilities to participate. Race distances are very beginner-friendly. Helmets are required and flotation devices and training wheels are allowed. All participants will be awarded with medals. Awards to top three girls and boys in each age group will also be awarded.

Event Details

Distances by Age Groups (based on age as of 12/31/22)

5-7 Swim: 25yds Bike: 1 mile Run: .25 mile

8-10 Swim: 50yds Bike: 2 miles Run: .50 mile

11-13 Swim: 100yds Bike: 4 miles Run: .75 mile

14-16 Swim: 150yds Bike: 6 miles Run: .75 mile

Wondering if your child is ready to try a tri? The Learn to Tri - Training Clinic is a FREE introductory program designed to train youth in the fundamentals of triathlons, so they can participate in the Tuscaloosa Kids Triathlon. The Learn to Tri Kids Clinic will be hosted at Lake Lurleen on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m.

At the start of the clinic, the participants will be divided into groups (usually by age). After a brief introduction, the groups will each rotate across 3 different stations. Each rotation lasts for 30 minutes and gives every participant the opportunity to swim, bike, run and practice their transitions. Each transition will end with a Question & Answer session. Parents are welcome to attend.
