10th Annual David Shannon 5K & Mile Fun Run/Walk

10 Years of celebrating the life of David Shannon! The 10th Annual David Shannon 5K and Mile Fun Run/Walk is here. The event will be held virtually again this year. Never been a part of a virtual race? It's super easy! Just register for the race on this site, and between the dates of March 12-20, run, walk, hop, crawl, sprint, a 5K (approximately 3.1 miles). Be sure to track your time if you would like to post your results and receive a completion certificate Hey, you might even win something. A simple watch will do for timing, but if you are high tech, there are several apps that can also log your time. AND you can do it from anywhere, even on a treadmill.

It is hard to believe that we lost David 10 years ago (10/27/12). Although he was just 18 years old, we all knew that David was destined to make an impact on peoples' lives... and he is! The David Shannon Scholarship Fund keeps the memory of David strong by providing financial aid to Myers Park alum. The scholarship is dedicated to Myers Park seniors who demonstrate David's characteristics, including but not limited to, charisma, academics, and a pure love for Myers Park High School and all it offers.
