ARE YOU UP FOR
THE DUKE'S CHALLENGE?
There has been a long-standing rumour that the Duke of Richmond, while at Fort William Henry in Sorel, Lower Canada (now North-East of Montreal in Quebec), caught rabies when he was bitten by a soldier’s pet fox. After traveling through Upper Canada and arriving in Richmond, Ontario (the long-held location of the Richmond Road Races), the Duke succumbed to the disease and passed away in August of 1819.
Despite his illness, the Duke and his party traveled 293 km from Sorel to Richmond that summer. How far can you go in 3 weeks?
Pick your challenge distance: 93 km, 193 km, or 293 km, reach it and receive a digital badge plus 15% off anything in the Run Ottawa shop! Track and upload your kilometres through Race Roster to see how far your travels take you.
Please consider wearing a buff or a mask while you’re completing this challenge outside, and remember to give other pedestrians some space. Please check your local public health organization for current guidelines regarding social distancing and COVID-19.
