My Story…
My journey with lung cancer began in November 2016 when I had a panic attack in my sleep from a nightmare and fell out of bed. When I had x-rays of my broken ribs, they found "unrelated to the fall," a tumor in my lung. After a lobectomy, removal of part of my lung, and chemotherapy, I was cancer free. About 3 years later, in my "year of health," I went gluten free, was feeling strong, and working out. When I started getting pain in my upper leg, doctors were stumped. I thought I pulled a muscle from using the elliptical machine. Come to find out, lung cancer was back and had spread to my upper femur. I went through radiation and started on a targeted therapy daily medication. I am incredibly grateful to lung cancer research and to Dr. Inga Lennes, who takes the best care of me. Because MGH is up on the latest and greatest in medication, research, and information, I am able to live my life to the fullest. Every day isn't always rainbows and butterflies, but as long as I keep having days, it doesn't matter to me. Doing this walk is just a small way I can give back and contribute to continuing lung cancer research.
