My Story…
Five years ago (2017) in early June I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and later this November I will reach the milestone of being 5 years cancer-free...Yay! I am so fortunate to have listened to my body, sought treatment, and been diagnosed early (stage 1A.) But many women are diagnosed much later (stage 3/4) and face much lower survival rates. (Overall OC 5-year survival rate is 48%... higher for early stage and lower for later stage diagnoses.) There is no screening tool for ovarian cancer like there is for other cancers (mammogram for breast, Pap smear for cervical, colonoscopy for colon) so early detection depends entirely on recognizing the subtle symptoms which often can be explained away by other conditions or just getting older. Jodi's Race (COCA) raises funds to increase awareness and education of ovarian cancer and support women diagnosed with this terrible disease. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by donating (any amount) to Jodi's Race... THANK YOU!!!
