Our story…
I had my SCAD heart attack on Thanksgiving Day. Since then I have learned that this is a rare condition that affects healthy women aged 40-50 years old. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attack among women under the age of 50. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks for new moms. Often there is no family history of heart disease. SCAD can affect men as well. And many have FMD (abnormality of blood vessels). There is still no known cause and no way to prevent SCAD. The rate of reoccurrence is 15-20%. Research is needed to find the causes and best treatment options.
I am currently on 5 medications daily. I am hoping to be off of most meds in 6 months. I went to Mayo Clinic in March to see a SCAD specialist. Mayo Clinic is the number one researcher on SCAD. I am also part of Mayo Clinic’s SCAD research. Research is the only way to find answers on this condition. I am hoping to raise a little money towards the research as there are still tons of unknowns of SCAD. Thanks for considering in helping out the cause.
