My Story…
I love to swim. I love to help. Cancer has become a big part of my life. The Swim Bowen Event was made for me.
My Mom was diagnosed in 2016 with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia). The care she received at end-of-life was wonderful. She was in the US and it wasn't cheap, but she died in comfort.
My husband was diagnosed in 2020 with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia). He drew the long straw. CML is very treatable and the drug is funded by the BC Cancer Agency. He takes a magic pill every day and gets on with it. He has been the CML Poster Child.
This year, my Prince Charming has another cancer diagnosis. This one is a little more challenging. Chemo, Radiation and Surgery. We are preparing to win this battle with the support of our Cancer Care Team. They are unbelievable and the exotic drugs are pretty much covered by BC Cancer Agency. We are fortunate to have extended benefits and live in the city. We are a three minute drive from the LGH chemo clinic and not too far from BC Cancer and VGH. Not everyone is so lucky.
I would like to contribute to the Bowen Cancer Fund. Raising funds by swimming is a perfect fit for me. Please donate what you can to this amazing cause.
thank you xoxo
