My Story…
I am collecting donations for the Scarborough Health Network – an organization very near and dear to me. After all, Scarborough Centenary hospital was the very first place I ever laid eyes on, the place where I was born. It was my family and community’s hospital throughout my childhood, into grade school and through high school.
Scarborough Health Network, through its newest campaign “Love, Scarborough” is aiming to raise awareness about the healthcare inequalities within Toronto, with a goal to meet their $100 million fundraising goal for SHN hospitals. According to the SHN Foundation, while Scarborough makes up a quarter of the city’s population, they receive less than 1% of hospital donations. A network of 3 hospitals which serves almost 1M of the GTA’s most economically disadvantaged has been left behind and needs our help to continue serving its community.
What makes Scarborough unique is the feeling you get when you know that, despite your background, even if you have nothing in common, there’s a shared identity and sense of pride for anyone that has spent any time in Scarborough. How motivating and inspiring it’s been to learn about the incredible work (while so under-resourced) the SHN team accomplishes every day. We need to support them as much as they support us.
Donate to help Jeffrey raise money for Toronto Corporate Run and Walk 2022’s fundraising campaign.
