We are thrilled to announce the Richmond Promise's first ever 5k Fun Run, which will take place on Saturday, June 11th from 8:00 am till 1:00 pm along Richmond's beautiful Marina Bay. Join us for this family friendly celebration of the wonderful and uniquely diverse Richmond roots and community that raise our Richmond Promise Scholars into young, dedicated change-makers.

The RP 5k Fun Run is a place for neighbors from many different walks of life to get to know the pride and purpose that unites us behind our support of the postsecondary pathways and aspirations of Richmond’s future generations. Proceeds from the race will directly support the higher education journeys of Richmond Promise Scholars.

The Fun Run will have a little something for everyone. After crossing the finish line, participants can refuel and unwind in our Assemble Marketplace coffee/breakfast party inside the Craneway, or head next door to the Richmond Ferry Fest, where live music, food, and games will be in full swing until 3:00 pm.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are dogs allowed at the event?

Yes! We love furry friends. Those with strollers and pets will be asked to start a few minutes later to ensure elite runners have a clear course. Please keep in mind that the course is not very wide, so there might be some maneuvering that needs to happen on the course.

What if I know someone that wants to join last minute?

Day of race sign-ups will be available at our check in table.

Will there be parking?

Yes! Event parking is on the north end of the Craneway Pavilion (1414 Harbour Way S) in a gated lot. Make a left off of Harbour Way into one of two designated entry points (one mid-gate, and one at the guard station). We'll have helpers in yellow vests making sure you get where you need to be!

Where is the actual start line?

Our start line will be on the West side of the Craneway Pavilion, at the very end of Harbour Way S, to the left of the roundabout that's right in front of the Richmond Ferry Terminal. There'll be a big arch and tents set up - hopefully you won't be able to miss it!

Where can I find race results?

We'll be updating race results live at the following website: https://runsignup.com/Race/Results/131520 . Signs will be posted on the day-of with QR codes for runners to scan with their phones and view results on the spot.

Do I need to bring anything else?

Our bayside route is beautiful, and sometimes very windy! We recommend an extra layer. We also ask all participants to have proof of a negative covid test (taken no more than 48 hours before the event) on hand so we can celebrate safely together. Light snacks, coffee, and water will be provided, and breakfast/lunch options will be available for purchase.

COVID-19 Protocol:

Once again we continue to experience COVID 19 cases in the bay area, we must take precautions to keep participants and our community safe. We have put together the following guidelines to keep everyone safe:

• Please bring proof of vaccination to the event or proof of a negative COVID test
• We ask all participants to take a COVID test at home no more than 48 before the event and take a picture of their results. If your test is positive, please do not come to the event and stay at home and rest. We are counting on everyone to do their part.
• Though this is an outdoor event, masks are strongly recommended but not required. You do not need a mask to run/walk. Keep in mind that many children have not had the opportunity to receive a COVID vaccine, and it is our responsibility to keep them safe.
• If you are not feeling well and have any symptoms of illness, please stay home and rest; we know you will be with us in spirit.
