Help Brett raise money

As someone who's parents had to stay at the Ronald McDonald House for an extended period of time with a very premature child (yours truly), who now has now benefitted from the love and generosity of the House as well, this page is to give back to an organization that gives so much. 

Our Story

Beginning with my mother and father, way back in 1994, we began benefitting from the love of the Ronald McDonald House in Calgary as we had to stay in Calgary for months on end as I was a very premature (approx. 4 months) infant with many issues. Through the support of RMHC as well as family and friends, we made it through that tumultuous time.  

Fast forward 27 years and roles have reversed. I am now a parent with a child who has medical needs and must make multiple trips to the nearest hospital for specialist treatment. Lucas Surbey was born with bilateral club feet, a condition that if untreated, would cripple him. Luckily the procedure that has been developed recently (Ponsetti method) has a very high success rate and is relatively non-invasive, but as parents that live in the Peace Country, we had no local access to high-end care for our son. 

Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton provided a place to call home when we had to make these trips. We found solace and comfort (not to mention great food and snacks) during one of the hardest periods our family has faced. Without the inexpensive stays and care from the many volunteers and donors that support such a wonderful organization, I can safely say that we would be worse off than we are.
