Our Mission:
Senior Celebrations is a non-profit organization that has been serving and connecting seniors to the community through many projects over the past two years. Our organization has teamed up with members of the Lyons Township Cross Country team to start this 5k.
Senior Celebrations has done many projects with the seniors of Plymouth Place, and with this 5k, we have shifted our focus to support building an impactful environment for seniors and their loved ones to connect after the enduring pandemic. In the past, we have done interviews through StoryCorps, working from the Library of Congress entailing the stories of senior citizens to be saved throughout the ages. We have worked with Lyons Township's Student Council to give them lots of holiday cards and over 400 handwritten/typed letters by high school students during the midst of the pandemic to connect them to their community.
Our Goal:
We are actively raising awareness and funds to support the Carhart Garden. This dedicated area—located on the 3rd floor of Plymouth Place Health Care Center—will offer residents, their loved ones and staff a beautiful garden and outdoor amenities to enjoy quality time together.

Events
1 Mile Walk and Kids Run:
This is a 1-Mile course that starts and finishes in a different location than the 5K. These will be unofficially timed, but results can be found at the same location on the website. The 1-mile walk will occur first, and the 1-mile run will be afterwards. These will be cheaper to sign up for considering there is no official timing, and is merely a fun event for charity.
5K Run:
The 5k will be the last event of the evening. Runners will be released in waves, or groups of people, every 1-2 minutes to prevent crowds of runners on the path during the race. Bibs and chip timing will be used during the 5k to officially time the event. The time will begin once an individual crosses the starting line, and will finish when they cross the finish line. These will be individual of each runner, and will be compiled to form an accurate result list found on our website. Official timing is provided by ShaZam Racing.
Course
5K Course:
* The 5K Course is 3 laps. Most major deviations from the path are due to construction occurring. The Park District of Western Springs has provided paths that avoid construction, in which the race will take place on. This map is subject to minor changes.

Overall Awards: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female in 5K
Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female in 1 Mile
Parking
There are two parking lots at Spring Rock Park that can accommodate cars. There will be metered parking along Burlington Avenue in front of the train tracks and regular parking on the side streets (Woodland Avenue, Grand Avenue, etc.) near Spring Rock Park. The lower parking lot will be closed off at 5:35PM.
Sponsors
The Sponsor Area will be right by the Start/Finish line. Tables will be organized with the Sponsors, however, other equipment should be brought by the sponsors themselves. We will gather a list of sponsors who are just supporting the event, and a list of sponsors who are actually attending the event with a tent.
