Motion to Run

Motion to Run is a 5k sponsored by Mississippi College School of Law supporting the Barack Obama Magnet School in Jackson, MS. As a Christian university, MC Law aspires to embody the servant-minded service referenced in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Specifically, our aim is to support scholars and teachers of the Jackson Public Schools. Motion to Run will serve as our “Big Event” through which we will raise funds to buy new technology for our friends at the Barack Obama Magnet School.

5k Course Description

The route starts in the parking lot between Highway 80 and Robinson-Hale Stadium. From here, participants will run through Old Towne Clinton, passing by historic landmarks and through the heart of Downtown Clinton. Participants will turn around at Ole Towne Depot and then proceed to run through the brick streets and onto Mississippi College’s main campus. After running through the campus, participants will take a right on S. Capitol St. and proceed towards College St. where runners will take a left. Finally, runners will proceed over the hill on the north side of Robinson-Hale stadium and proceed towards the finish line.

1 Mile Fun Run Course Description

Participants will begin on the south side of Mississippi College’s main parking garage and proceed to run north on S. Capitol St. between A.E. Woods Coliseum and several dormitories. Next, participants will take a left on W. College St. and run towards the MC tennis courts. From here, the runners will loop around the tennis court parking lot and proceed to run back towards the finish line. On the way back, participants will take a shortcut by the field house so as to keep the run to a mile.
